The Student Veterans Association at UTSA

Welcome to the Student Veterans Association (SVA) at the University of Texas at San Antonio. The SVA serves as the primary advocate for the student Veteran, their families and our non-traditional student associates at the University of Texas at San Antonio. We provide comprehensive information, support, networking and professional opportunities, academic support and guidance in order to aid our Veterans, their families and our fellow non-traditional students in their intellectual and professional success.

The SVA at UTSA has implemented a mentoring program designed to help pair incoming student veterans with currently enrolled student veterans. Incoming student veterans tend to have concerns that younger more traditional students are not typically familiar with, so teaming an incoming student veteran with a current student veteran mentor can help facilitate more successful experiences. The current SVA President (Will Dawson) is leading this program and we encourage you to list specific concerns that will help us match an incoming veteran with a mentor most familiar with the concern/s listed. Click here to email your request. The mentorship is designed to last throughout the incoming veteran's first semester at the university, and help develop a collaborative environment to aid in academic success. We feel confident that this program will prove to be effective in raising the success rate of veterans at our university.
